Hello! I’m Kristie, and I’m so glad you’re here. As a counsellor, I’m passionate about supporting children, youth, and families through their mental health journeys. I earned my undergraduate degree in Child and Youth Care Counselling in 2012 and recently completed my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University in 2024. I am currently registered with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association as a Canadian Certified Counsellor, and with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario as a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying).
As a parent of a neurodiverse child, I understand the unique challenges that come with parenting and navigating social systems. My personal journey allows me to connect with neurodiverse parents, empathizing with the emotional toll of advocating for their children in educational and healthcare settings. I’m committed to helping these parents feel confident in their roles and to celebrate their strengths as they advocate for their child.
I have experience working within our mental health system with children and their families at BC Children’s Hospital. I worked closely with young patients facing various challenges, from anxiety and depression to trauma. I also partnered with families, providing guidance and support as they navigated difficult situations and helped them build resilience. This has given me a unique perspective on the challenges that families face in feeling supported and empowered in their child’s care and in their parenting journey.
I have a deep desire to support parents throughout the entire journey of parenthood—whether it’s during family planning, pregnancy, or the postnatal period. I want to create a welcoming space where parents can explore their feelings and concerns during this transformative time, helping them feel empowered and supported every step of the way.
I believe in supporting all families, regardless of their unique dynamics or challenges. Every family is different, and I’m here to help each one navigate their specific journey with compassion and understanding. My goal is to provide a safe and nurturing environment where all families can feel seen, heard, and valued.
In my practice, I use a variety of techniques, including somatics, mindfulness, and EMDR, along with person-centred therapy and elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Narrative Therapy. My goal is to create a safe and nurturing environment where both parents and children feel understood and supported. Together, we can navigate the beautiful and sometimes challenging journey of parenting and mental health. I’m really looking forward to working with you!

Hi! I’m glad you’re here. A bit about me - I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Victoria, and a Master of Arts Degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I have experience working as a counsellor in community mental health, and have been running my private practice since August 2020. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) through the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.
My counselling philosophy includes using a trauma-informed integrated approach that is tailored to each individual client. I combine evidence-based theories such as a bio-psycho-social approach, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), mindfulness, and person-centered therapy. I support each of my clients in finding their own path and uncovering their own strengths and resources.
I work to help clients gain a better understanding of their experiences and inherent worth. Together, we address their identified goals, reflect on and process experiences that may have been traumatic, challenge negative self-beliefs, and foster self-compassion. I strive to recognize intersectional factors that may impact client’s, such as culture, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender identity, sexuality, disability, age, etc. I am passionate about creating safer spaces for all communities, bodies, and backgrounds.
My focus is working with adults in the areas of anxiety, depression, interpersonal dynamics, grief & loss, self-worth, body image, relationships, self-compassion, perfectionism, and trauma. I am passionate about journeying with and supporting clients as they explore the big questions in life - why do I behave the way I do? Why is this a pattern for me?
I work with my clients to formulate a plan for the course of therapy. Through the integration of evidence-based interventions to foster awareness of one’s thoughts, behaviours, and emotions, I strive to cultivate a space for clients to learn and grow.
